No. The app store is for the iPhone only. You have one hardware manufacturer running a factory version of the apple operating system.
Android phones are from multiple hardware manufacturers (htc, Samsung, Motorola, etc) and each of those manufacturers modify the Android operating system to work better with their hardware. Them changing the OS is the reason Android apps don’t work properly on all phones. It’s annoying for app developers to write apps to try to work on all of these systems. It’s easy with apple.

android phones have acquired 30% of the market but nowhere close to iphone. Iphone has a first movers advantage and the device is extremely user friendly. This one big advantage eclipses all the negatives and that’s what Mr. Steve goes by. secondly, the iphones are coming to verizon in jan, 2011. That means the droid phones will be in dust again. A clever move by apple.

Never say never. I think Android has great chance of overtaking iPhone as far as app selection goes. iPhone does have first mover advantage. But Android is open and eventually all the app developers on iPhone will see they are missing 30% of the market share unless they port their apps to Android platform. Already there are 12 major Android app stores http://www.digi-go.com/android/ And there will be more to come. Some of them will become as big as app store.
